Hi I'm Matt or Matt D if there is another Matt in the room. I am a Film and Animation student with my actual degree title being a major in Film and Media Arts and a minor in Digital Arts. I have just got back from a study abroad trip to London and I am ready to get back to work and create new things.
I got into film initially because I wanted to be a part of something that people can enjoy and could not think of any other way to do it outside of game production. While I really enjoyed the work I have done writing, directing, editing, and using the camera and lighting equipment I felt there was something missing with film. Some kind of control that is simply not possible with human actors and real world locations. In my sophomore year I took a 3D animation course here at UT and realized that I really enjoy to do it. The control over everything that occurs in the shot filled the hole I thought was missing from film. No longer would I have to re-shoot an entire scene due to one problem, I could just go back to past frames and alter them without any problem. Since then I have taken some more courses on animation and have attempted to self-teach myself how to animate with Flash and SFM. I am still not that great at either 3D or 2D animation but I want to keep trying and get better at it. There may be more secure jobs out there but with this I could really be happy with what I do.
